Bermuda’s Students Invited to Attend Blockchain Conference

The Ministry of Economy and Labour's Economic Development Department (EDD) is pleased to advise that as part of Tech Education Day, students across Bermuda are invited to join the virtual Blockchain on the Beach to be held on October 7-9, 2022, for free. This Barbados-based educational gathering highlights financial literacy and emerging technologies such as cryptocurrency, blockchain mining, art, and music NFTs.

In addition to numerous fintech-related sessions, presentations, and activities, the Blockchain on the Beach conference will launch Krypto for Kids Caribbean and feature the launch of the SHEQONOMI Global Blockchain Scholars Program.

This event will also be live-streamed to schools in Barbados, Antigua, Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and other participating jurisdictions.

The Minister of Economy and Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP, explained, “We are thrilled to partner with this global initiative to bring students, educators, and professionals into this important conversation that will prepare our next generation and enrich Bermuda’s digital workforce.”

SHEQONOMI and Krypto for Kids Founder Anu Bhardwaj said, “May this be the beginning of greater connectivity and collaboration from brilliant minds across oceans where we will have new leaders driving the new economic narrative of racial and economic justice.”

Grammy-nominee Shontelle Layne, co-chair of Krypto for Kids Caribbean and CEO of SHEQONOMI Barbados, added, “We hope this is where diversity, inclusion, and gender parity becomes a reality rather than a goal we all aspire to.”

Bermuda's annual Tech Education Day, held at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club on October 31st, is affiliated with Blockchain on the Beach.
