All Public Schools on Track to Start the New Academic Year as Scheduled

All Bermuda Public Schools will open for students on Monday, September 11, as scheduled, the Ministry of Education announced today.

Logistical challenges encountered with the new construction works at Purvis Primary and Francis Patton schools have delayed the completion of new classrooms, but contingency arrangements will be put in place.

Meetings were held this week for Purvis and Francis Patton Primary School parents, during which the contingency plans were re-presented and endorsed by both school communities.

Education Minister, the Hon. Diallo Rabain JP, MP, shared, “We are excited that our first two Parish Primary Schools will open for students on Monday, September 11, 2023. School and Department of Education leaders are committed to maintaining the quality and integrity of the Parish School experience throughout this transition.”

“Indeed, all of our students and staff will be welcomed into safe, nurturing environments conducive to teaching and learning. A special thank you to our facilities staff and Public Works for their hard work on the school sites and the teachers who worked throughout the summer on curriculum, learning experiences, and assessment.”

"Schools will also have a full complement of leaders following some staff transitions. Bermuda Public Schools will also be welcoming a host of new teachers. Details of new appointments will be announced to the public in due course."
