Apply for a Social Insurance Number

Anyone who works in Bermuda must have a social insurance number from the age of 16 years old.

Requirements

To apply for a social insurance number in Bermuda, you need:

  • a completed Application for Social Insurance Number
  • photocopy of
    • your birth certificate or passport, if born in Bermuda;
    • your birth certificate or passport and your immigration spousal letter, if married to a Bermudian; or
    • your birth certificate or passport and your work permit, if a non-Bermudian

How do I apply?

You must create an account with Department of Social Insurance Online portal by clicking the following link

The User access portal will allow users to;

  • Apply for a Social Insurance Number online

Users will have access to the following;

Users can also;

  • Check the status of applications submitted via the online portal
  • Upload documents to share with the DOSI staff
  • View a record of their submissions

How long does it take to process my social insurance application?

If the form has been correctly completed, and all required documents have been attached, processing time is 3 business days

Employers must sign-up separately using the following link;

https://www.social.gov.bm/Employer-signup

  • Logging into the employer portal will allow Employers to submit adjustment forms online
  • Apply for Company Registration, Change of address, and access to all other Employer related forms(DOSI product)
  • Check the status of their applications
  • Upload documents to share with the DOSI staff
  • View a record of their submissions
