Public Advisory: Beware of Fraudulent WhatsApp Message Claiming to Be from the Bermuda Post Office

The Ministry for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation advises the public to be aware of fraudulent WhatsApp and/or text messages falsely claiming to be from the Bermuda Post Office.

The message says a parcel has arrived in Bermuda and tells recipients to pay customs duties by clicking a link. Like the sample attached, it may read:

"BERMUDA POST OFFICE
Parcel CP827632144BM has arrived in Bermuda. Delivery is not possible. Customs duties must be paid before 30/06/2026!”

The message, the associated website link, and others like it are fraudulent and did not originate from the Bermuda Post Office.

Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link, respond to the message, provide any personal or financial information, or make any payments.

The Bermuda Post Office does not request payment of customs duties or other fees through WhatsApp messages. Official communications regarding postal services and customs charges are made through established Government channels.

Anyone who receives this message should delete it immediately. Individuals who have clicked the link or shared personal or financial information should immediately contact their financial institution and monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity.

The Ministry thanks the public for their vigilance and encourages residents to remain cautious of unsolicited messages requesting payments or personal information.
