National 18+ Youth Conference to Host "Ask the Leader" Town Hall This Evening

The Office of Youth Affairs is inviting Bermuda's young people and the wider community to attend the "Ask the Leader" Town Hall, taking place this evening as part of the National 18+ Youth Conference, themed "Power in Participation: Youth Shaping Bermuda's Future."

The town hall will be held this evening, Monday, July 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Butterfield & Vallis Room at Bermuda College.

Designed as a platform for listening rather than speeches, the town hall places the voices of Bermuda's young people at the forefront of the national conversation. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions, with the option to remain anonymous, creating an environment that encourages honest, open, and constructive dialogue.

This event offers a rare opportunity for young people to engage directly with Bermuda's political leaders, an opportunity that should not be missed. Attendees are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, share their perspectives, and participate in respectful, engaging conversations on the issues that matter most to them.

Discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including education, the economy, housing affordability, employment opportunities, and other issues shaping Bermuda's future. Government representatives will respond to questions in real time, fostering meaningful dialogue and encouraging active civic participation.

"Ask the Leader" reflects the conference's commitment to empowering young people to engage with decision-makers and helping to shape the policies and priorities that will define Bermuda's future.

Confirmed government representatives participating in the town hall include:

Hon. Diallo Rabain, JP, MP, Minister of Education

Hon. Tinee Furbert, JP, MP, Minister of Youth, Social Development & Seniors

Hon. Alexa Lightbourne, JP, MP, Minister of Home Affairs

Senator, Hon. Kim Wilkerson, JP, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice

The National 18+ Youth Conference is dedicated to inspiring civic engagement, leadership, and collaboration among Bermuda's young adults. Through discussions, interactive sessions, and direct engagement with leaders, the conference aims to empower participants to play an active role in building a stronger Bermuda.

The Office of Youth Affairs encourages all young people ages 16 to 35 to attend this event and to participate. Whether you have a question, a concern, or simply want to hear directly from Bermuda's leaders, this town hall provides a unique opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping the island's future.
