The Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism attended the Global Traveler Leisure Lifestyle Award in Los Angeles. Bermuda was awarded for Best Weekend Destination in the World.

 

Meetings with UK Department of Transport

The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism attended meetings at the UK Consulate in Miami, Florida with officials from the UK Department of Transport and other overseas territory representatives to discuss the Air Services Agreement between the UK, US and Canada. Fair competition provisions to geographical restrictions on air services were just a few of the topics covered.

Bermuda Tourism Authority's "New York Market Blitz"

The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism travelled to New York from 20th to 23rd February, 2018 to support the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s “New York Market Blitz”, where he and BTA executives met with Media, Travel Trade Professionals and Meeting and Event Planners for the purpose of promoting and selling Bermuda as a top destination for business and tourism.

Black Congressional Caucus

The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism attended the US Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference in Washington DC. The Minister joined Premier The Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP at events arranged by the conference held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre.

Finance and Economic Development Investors’ Meeting

The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism travelled to New York City to meet with leaders of fund management, private-equity and venture-capital companies. The Minister was joined by Premier The Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, Minister of Finance, Randy Rochester, Permanent Secretary and Sean Moran, Head of Business Development of the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA). The purpose of the visit was for Minister Simmons and his contingency to build business relationships and attract investment to the island.
