The Acting Minister of National Security, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, JP, MP, commented on the two incidents which occurred last evening. Both matters are under active investigation by the Bermuda Police Service (BPS).
Regarding the incident in Warwick, Minister Rabain said, “First and foremost I wish to extend my deepest and sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased. These are tragic and heartbreaking circumstances and I ask our community to please keep the victim’s family and loved ones in their thoughts during this very difficult time.”
About the shooting in the Happy Valley Road, Pembroke area, Minister Rabain said, “I join with the community in expressing frustration and condemnation of this incident. I have been briefed by the Commissioner of Police and have been assured that the necessary resources are being devoted to investigating this latest act of gun violence.”
Minister Rabain concluded, “I also wish to note that as a Country, we continue to grapple with the challenging effects of COVID-19, and acts of violence that take place in our community can be particularly distressing. We want to support your emotional well-being, so if anyone is feeling overwhelmed or concerned about any of the events taking place in our community, they can call 543-1111 for guidance should the need arise.”
