Transport Minister Welcomes Increased Airlift between Bermuda and NYC area Airports

“I am excited to note the additions of two JetBlue flights from Bermuda to New York City this month, with daily service from LF Wade International Airport to New York’s John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia Airports.” said Minister of Transport, the Hon. Wayne Furbert.

“Factoring in this additional airlift, there are now 32 commercial flights per week scheduled between Bermuda and New York metropolitan area airports. This is a vast increase from last year, when there were only 18 flights per week operating to and from the New York area.”

Minister Furbert added, “We are delighted to have this expanded service from our leading tourism market - New York, enabling greater passenger traffic.

“As we know, Bermudians love to travel, so this potential increase in availability will also be very welcome from the local traveler’s perspective. I am heartened to note that the removal of vaccination requirements for travel to the United States next week will also likely improve passenger numbers.”

“Furthermore, I want to mention that JetBlue’s daily summer schedule of flights between Boston and Bermuda also commence this month – combined with a recent confirmation of a new winter schedule starting in November, this means year-round flights to Boston have now returned.”

“Increasing airlift is a critical component to growing visitor arrivals. I want to thank the Executive team at our airline partner JetBlue for their commitment to Bermuda.”

“As I previously stated, air service development is a priority. We will continue working with our air service development team to engage all our airline partners as we rebuild Bermuda’s air service connections.”
