Transcontinental Trusts 11th Annual Conference - Welcome Remarks from Minister Wilson

Transcontinental Trust Bermuda Conference - Minister Kim Wilson

Yesterday evening (May 14) the Acting Minister of Economy and Labour, Hon. Kim Wilson, JP, MP, delivered remarks at Transcontinental Trusts 11th Annual Conference.

Good evening, everyone.

On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our island.

Minister of Economy and Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, sends his warmest regards. Unfortunately, he cannot be here this evening, so I am honoured to join you on his behalf to extend Bermuda's welcome to this distinguished gathering.

It is a privilege for Bermuda to once again host the Transcontinental Trusts Conference — now in its 11th year — a prestigious event that brings together leading trust and private client professionals from around the world. Over the years, this conference has become a vital platform for dialogue, innovation, and cross-border collaboration, and we are proud that Bermuda remains at the heart of these important conversations.

As many of you know, Bermuda has long been recognised as a premier international financial centre. Sound regulation, professional excellence, and a steadfast commitment to the highest standards of integrity are the foundations of this reputation. Our trusts and private client sector are cornerstones of that success, offering sophisticated solutions to families and businesses with global needs.

We are especially proud of the close partnership between government, industry, and regulators here, a partnership that helps ensure Bermuda remains agile and competitive in an ever-evolving world. Your presence here this week reflects the confidence that the international community continues to place in Bermuda's role as a trusted and forward-looking jurisdiction.

Over the next few days, you'll have the chance to discuss important topics, from regulatory shifts and cross-border complexities to the growing influence of family offices and the stewardship of wealth across generations.

But tonight is about connection, conversation, and a bit of fun before the serious business begins. So I encourage you to relax, enjoy the warm Bermudian hospitality, and take in this beautiful setting here at the Hamilton Princess.

We are delighted to have you join us and hope that your time in Bermuda is productive and memorable.

Thank you, and I wish you all an enjoyable evening.
