Town Hall Meetings Scheduled for June 23 and 28

The Government remains committed to engaging and connecting with the community on a number of important policies, programmes and initiatives that affect the people.

And in the upcoming weeks, there will be town hall meetings taking place to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about two Throne Speech pledges: Signature Learning Schools and Bermuda’s Youth Employment Strategy.

Following the recent announcement of Bermuda’s Youth Employment Strategy, Minister Jason Hayward will host a community engagement event on June 23 at St. Paul's AME Centennial Church Hall.

The Minister will be joined by Department of Workforce Development Director, Mrs Malika Cartwright and Bermuda Economic Development Corporation Executive Director, Mrs Erica Smith.

And on June 28, the Minister of Education, Diallo Rabain will host a town hall meeting at the Bermuda College to discuss the progress being made with Signature Schools and Education Reform. The Minister will be joined by the members of the Education Reform Team.

Today Minister Hayward said, "The implementation of Bermuda's Youth Employment Strategy is essential to reducing unemployment and facilitating greater opportunities and educational pathways for all young Bermudians between 18 – 26 years old. The upcoming town hall is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and gather information on how the Youth Employment Strategy will support our youth in developing the ability to guide and lead our country's path into the future."

And Minister Rabain added, "Like our colleagues at Workforce Development, we have a key role to play in nurturing and enabling Bermuda's children and young people, their families and our nation to thrive. I encourage everyone interested in Education Reform to come and hear about the progress made to achieve our bold and ambitious plan. You will learn from those involved in the day-to-day work and how the public can get involved."

Both community engagement events will be in person from 6.00 pm to 7:30 pm and feature on Government's CITV channel and social media platforms.
