Minister of National Security, Michael Weeks, stated: "I am deeply saddened by last night's incident, resulting in the hospitalisation of a woman with gunshot wounds. My thoughts go out to her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
"This senseless act of violence is alarming. Our community deserves to feel safe and secure, and incidents like this only heighten the pressing need to combat gun violence.
"The Bermuda Police Service is currently investigating this incident and is appreciative of the support from those members of the public who have stepped forward to provide information.
“They are heartened by the public's willingness of to do the right thing. I encourage anyone else with knowledge of this matter to reach out to the Bermuda Police Service or contact Crimestoppers."
Minister Weeks emphasised: "It's essential for all of us to contribute to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice. If you see something, please say something. Let's work together to ensure each other's safety and well-being not only during this Cup Match holiday but every day.”
