Seniors Engaged with Informative Session on Navigating Energy Consumption Online

Sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, CG Insurance, and Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB), the Power Up/Power Down event, hosted by BELCO brought together seniors from across the island for an informative session on June 9, at St. Paul AME Church Hall. The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for seniors to learn about BELCO’s online billing and energy usage tracking platform, empowering them to manage their accounts and monitor their consumption more effectively.

Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, the Hon. Tinee Furbert, JP, MP, who joined the meeting alongside members of various Seniors Clubs, praised BELCO’s commitment to community engagement, stating, “Ensuring that all members of our community, especially seniors, have the tools and knowledge to navigate modern digital services is essential. BELCO’s dedication to supporting our seniors in understanding and managing their energy usage reflects their leadership and care,” said Minister Furbert.

The meeting commenced with remarks by former West Indies cricketer Sir Curtly Ambrose, who warmly welcomed attendees. BELCO representative Octina Emmanuel-Trott, Director of Retail Operations was in attendancewhile BELCO representatives Sheldon Jones, Customer Experience Manager; and Aquino GrandAMI Associate, then led an informative presentation focusing on BELCO’s online platform, helping seniors gain confidence in using digital services to manage their energy needs.

BELCO remains committed to engaging with the community and providing accessible, user-friendly tools to support all customers in optimizing their energy consumption and account management.
