The public is reminded that there is still time to submit feedback in the “Red Tape Reduction Consultation”, which is currently live at www.forum.gov.bm.
Last month, the Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, launched the consultation process with the goal of hearing directly from the public about what regulations they feel can be reduced, streamlined, or made more efficient.
The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2024.
Premier Burt said, “Investing in our people and our future are the key tenets of this Government. As outlined on our 2023 Throne, 2024/25 Budget, and Economic Development Strategy - the Government is committed to supporting economic growth by ensuring more efficient, effective and business friendly processes. And reducing red tape can have a critical effect on assisting us in remaining a viable, relevant, and competitive jurisdiction.”
The Premier continued, “Many in the public have expressed concerns about outdated regulations and bureaucratic processes that have hindered local businesses from conducting some activities; expanding their operations; or simply causing frustration due to time consuming processes. And we have listened. So, we want to hear directly from those affected about the obstacles faced and receive recommendations on processes that can be streamlined to reduce frustrations.
“The consultation page launched on March 15, and while the feedback has been encouraging, there is always an opportunity to receive more recommendations. I want to thank those who have provided submissions so far and invite others to submit their input. This your opportunity to have your say. Share your innovative solutions on how we can better assist you to thrive and be successful.”
