Premier congratulates Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley on landslide victory

The Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, has extended congratulations to the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. Mia Mottley, SC, MP, following the Barbados Labour Party’s decisive victory in the recent general election.

In the election, Prime Minister Mottley and the Barbados Labour Party secured a historic third consecutive clean sweep, winning all seats in the Barbados House of Assembly. Premier Burt has also formally written to Prime Minister Mottley to convey his congratulations on behalf of Bermuda.

Premier Burt said, “On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, I congratulate the Prime Minister, the Hon. Mia Mottley and the Barbados Labour Party on their historic election victory last night in which they secured a third straight clean sweep, winning all seats in the Barbados House of Assembly.

“Bermuda values our ties with Barbados and CARICOM, and looks forward to building on Prime Minister Mottley’s work to deepen Africa-Caribbean trade and cooperation.”

The Premier noted Prime Minister Mottley’s continued leadership within CARICOM and her advocacy on issues of regional integration, economic development, and global cooperation, all of which align with Bermuda’s interests and shared regional priorities.

The Government of Bermuda looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of Barbados under Prime Minister Mottley’s leadership.
