Premier Burt Travels to London for Overseas Territories

The Premier, the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, has travelled to London this week for a series of official engagements.

On Monday, 1 June, the Premier joined counterparts from across the British Overseas Territories to celebrate Overseas Territories Day, which is recognised on the first Monday of June each year.

As President of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association's (UKOTA) Political Council, the Premier was among the speakers at the Overseas Territories Day Reception hosted at Speaker’s House at the House of Commons alongside the Rt Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons; Stephen Doughty MP, Minister of State for Europe, North America and the Overseas Territories; and the Rt Hon. Priti Patel MP, Shadow Foreign Secretary.

Later that afternoon, the Premier attended the Overseas Territories Day Evensong at Westminster Abbey, a traditional Anglican choral service of prayer and reflection held in the late afternoon. The Premier delivered the First Lesson or the opening Bible reading of the service on behalf of UKOTA.

While in London, Premier Burt will also attend and deliver remarks at BILTIR’s UK–Bermuda Stakeholder Forum at Lloyd’s of London, an annual gathering that brings together senior leaders from across the UK and Bermuda's international business, insurance, and financial services sectors. The Premier will be joined at the Forum by Kendaree Burgess, Managing Director of the Bermuda Business Development Agency, and Suzanne Williams, CEO of BILTIR, both of whom are also in London for the event.

In addition to official engagements, the Premier will hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with senior representatives of His Majesty’s Treasury and the Bank of England.

Premier Burt will return to Bermuda on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
