The Ministry of Tourism, Transport and Municipalities has again raised concern about attacks on bus operators.
An incident this week has led to enquiries by the Bermuda Police Service into a report of a passenger spitting on a driver.
This summer, complaints surfaced when bus drivers faced physical attacks.
The Department of Public Transportation said that it will take steps to seek prosecution of those parties responsible.
Just this August, Tourism, Transport and Municipalities Minister Senator the Hon. Michael M. Fahy JP said steps would have to be taken to protect Bus Operators from such attacks, including prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, under the Omnibus (Conduct) Regulations 2012.
The latest incident happened Sunday, prompting the Minister to state: "Such behavior is totally unacceptable as it relates to safety, but also in terms of common decency. The bus operators should be appreciated for the job they do, day-in, day-out. I urge the public to please respect the role they play in our community."
