The closing date for workers to apply for the payroll tax rebate was December 15th 2022. The payroll tax rebate was available for eligible persons making less than $96,000 per the Public Treasury (Administration and Payments) (Salary Based Benefit) Regulations 2022. The Ministry of Finance received 5,116 applications, and 3,625 persons have already been paid for a total of approximately $700,000.
Of the applicants which have not yet been paid to date, a significant number are still awaiting additional information from the employee or their employer, some of whom have been contacted multiple times. In addition, there are approximately 125 which have been either denied by their employer or have been deemed ineligible as their salary exceeds the limit. It is anticipated that once the correct information is received, payments can be processed within five business days.
