Nominate Tech Innovations for the 2017 TechAwards

Monday, October 2, 2017

What do Hitch’s mobile taxi reservation app, Trunomi’s identity encryption platform, MediaMine’s Official Hollywood Walk of Fame mobile app, Gorham’s iOS mobile apps, the Code 441 Hackathon, and the Bermuda Football Association mobile app have in common?

They are all innovative, compelling, exciting ways in which technology has enhanced life.

And, they are all past winners of the Bermuda Technology Innovation Awards, otherwise known as TechAwards.

For the tenth year, the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation within the Ministry of Transport and Regulatory Affairs is calling for nominations for the Technology Innovation Awards.

Nominations are solicited from the public for Bermuda’s best in technology in four specific categories: International Innovation of the Year, Local Innovation of the Year, Most Innovative Youth Project of the Year, and Most Innovative New Mobile Application.

The TechAwards Committee evaluates each nomination and submits those that meet the criteria to a panel of industry-specific judges who then interview qualified nominees. The top five in each category will be recognized during the 10th Anniversary TechAwards Celebration.

The Hon. Walter H. Roban JP MP Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Regulatory Affairs stated: “Technology is a dynamic pillar of support for Bermuda’s ongoing development in multiple fields including health, education, commerce and tourism.”

He added: “Because of the annual TechAwards, efforts to enrich the daily lives of our citizens and residents through problem-solving technologies are publicly acclaimed and far more widely recognized. I look forward to seeing this year’s nominations, celebrating notable innovations and enjoying the TechAwards event.”

Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, the Hon. Jamahl Simmons JP MP stated: "The Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Transport and Regulatory Affairs to help to deliver the 10th annual TechAwards. For the last four (4) years, the BEDC has actively participated in the coordination of the TechAwards as we recognize the importance of technology in the advancement of entrepreneurship. Accordingly, the TechAwards have become a signature part of Global Entrepreneurship Week which is celebrated in November. We look forward to recognising those TechAwards recipients past and present in celebration of 10 years of innovation."

Have you, or your company, developed an innovative technological advancement, or do you know of one?
