National Disaster Coordinator Remarks on Hurricane Paulette

When the winds die down it will give a few hours left for road clearing actions.

Tune into 100.1fm for updates and for the ‘all clear’.

The station will go live at 7pm on Sunday.

Hurricane updates will be given on the top and bottom of the hour.

It is unknown if the Regiment, Public Works and Parks Department will have finished clearing the roads Monday evening.

Please do not use the road at night unless the all clear has been given as trees and braches will be down and there could be live wires in amongst them.

It is difficult to see at night what you are dealing with.

The Regiment, Public Works and Parks will clear a route from one end of the island to the other to allow the ambulance to respond to any emergency.

This is their first mission. First responders will be on the road to relive staff that have been up for 36 hours dealing with the effects of the storm and collating information ready for the response and recovery.

If you are on the roads too soon you will slow them down.

Do not drive on the roads until the all clear has been given.

Do go outside and check on your house and neighbors.

Do help with cleaning up the debris, but don’t use equipment beyond your training.

Please offer the responders some cold water or refreshments of even the use of a bathroom, this will be most welcome.

Do not drive on the roads until the all clear has been given.
