Ministry of Social Development and Seniors launches Expression of Interest for Ageing Well Committee

The Ministry of Social Development and Seniors would like to invite the public to express an interest in becoming a member of the Ageing Well Committee.

The Ageing Well Committee is an advisory board that focuses on recommendations for an ageing demographic, including areas of best practice, policies, procedures, and services. 

The committee will be comprised of a maximum of fourteen (14) members, inclusive of the Chairman, appointed by the Minister of Social Development and Seniors, the Hon. Tinee Furbert, JP, MP.

The Ageing Well Committee will advise on matters such as: 

●        Enhancing the quality of life for seniors 

●        Comprehensive planning and accountability 

●        Strategic workforce development, education, employment, and financial security for older adults and caregivers 

●        Healthy ageing

●        Ageing at home 

●        Accessible transportation

●        Long-term care 

●        Intergenerational and inclusive communities 

Minister Furbert shared, “Bermuda’s foundation is a result of the passion, sacrifice, and love of our seniors. Their accomplishments, dedication, and experiences are truly an example of resilience, and they serve as role models for younger generations due to the immense wisdom they possess.” 

“We believe that the Ageing Well Committee is key to helping us to drive change towards a more senior nurturing culture.” 

Minister Furbert added, "I look forward to receiving the expressions of interest, and I want to thank our community in advance for their support, interest, and commitment to what we are seeking to achieve."
