Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Hosts "Table Talk" with Female Members of Youth Parliament, the Future Leaders Programme, and WeSpeak Bermuda

Table Talk

The Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, the Hon. Tinee Furbert JP MP,  recently hosted a "Table Talk" with female members of Youth Parliament, the Future Leaders Programme, and WeSpeak Bermuda to discuss topics relevant to women and girls' empowerment. 

Minister Furbert shared, "As the Minister responsible for Gender Affairs, it is important to speak with women and girls to understand their perspectives so that we can represent their voices when we advance gender initiatives."

During the "Table Talk," we addressed several topics, such as:

  • Empowering women and girls through economic and gender equality lenses 
  • Recruiting, retaining, and developing female talent 
  • Supporting women and girls in leadership, decision-making, business and STEM 
  • Designing and building infrastructure meeting the needs of women and girls
  • Helping women and girls make informed decisions about their health- sexual reproduction rights
  • Providing women and girls with access to quality education and training
  • Not letting lifestyle inflation or desires be a killer of our wealth
  • Always have the end to Domestic Violence on our agenda and;
  • Inspiring through inclusion

Minister Furbert concluded, "Thank you to the women and girls who attended the first of many "Table Talks,” in commitment to gender equality and inclusivity.” 

“The Government of Bermuda continues advancing the UN Joint Programme: Building Back Equal through Innovative Financing for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. We also remain committed to protecting our women and girls through CEDAW (The Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) and the MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference) Committee, which is working to develop a National Domestic Abuse Strategy."
