The Minister of Education, The Hon. Diallo Rabain congratulated 17 teachers who were honoured at the 30th annual Bermuda Teacher Induction Programme. The Minister commented,
"As we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of this programme, I am proud to say that this Government remains committed to the belief that training, mentorship and continued development are part of a long-term vision to ensure that our teachers are supported, and provided with the necessary tools for their success.
Mentorship and training are a win-win deal for all stakeholders - including students, teachers, and parents. We know that teachers who have the tools and skills they need will ultimately lead to improved learning outcomes for our children.
The foundation of this mentorship programme is built on a commitment to meet the individual and collective needs of new teachers entering the Bermuda public school system. As teachers, administrators and leaders, we must be committed to providing a quality curriculum. We must also remain committed to ensuring that our teachers can effectively deliver that curriculum while improving overall accountability
As we move forward, we will continue to improve and create consistent programming across all schools in not just the curriculum but art, music, and sports as well.
Together, I believe we can make our public school system the best for our children, their parents, and our country. As this year’s theme states, "Teachers Who D.A.R.E. to Learn – Dedicate, Aspire, Reflect, Excel”, I am more confident than ever that these are the teachers we need in our public school system. They are the change that we need in our schools.
Congratulations to all of the teachers who completed the programme and I wish them all continued success in their profession as a teacher, one of the noblest professions anyone can D.A.R.E. to enter."
