"The Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) is ready for this season, and the Government is prepared to face any potential challenges," said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks, JP, MP.
The EMO recently convened an Executive Meeting to discuss the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane season.
The meeting served as a critical preparatory measure to ensure the safety and well-being of Bermuda's residents during potentially severe weather events.
According to the latest projections from the National Hurricane Center in Miami, this year's Atlantic Hurricane season is expected to bring between 12 and 17 named storms, featuring winds of at least 39 miles per hour (34 knots) or higher.
While these forecasts indicate a near-normal season, the EMO urges residents not to become complacent, as even a single storm can significantly impact our island.
The EMO urges residents to take this opportunity to review and update their personal preparedness plans, ensuring they have all necessary supplies readily available.
Minister Weeks concluded, "We want to assure the public that the EMO is diligently working to enhance Bermuda's readiness for the upcoming Atlantic Hurricane season.
"However, preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we urge all residents to prioritise their personal safety by taking the necessary precautions."
