Dockyard to St George’s Ferry Service Resumes

“I am pleased to announce that as of tomorrow, 19 October, the Department of Marine and Ports Services will resume the published ferry service on the Orange route from Dockyard to St George’s,” said Minister of Transport, the Hon. Lawrence Scott. “The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Works were committed to running the Orange Ferry schedule in time for our cruise ship arrivals in October through December.”

Minister Scott added, “This announcement is no doubt welcome news for our cruise visitors and our business partners in St George’s. As of 5 October, 39 more calls in the fourth quarter period are estimated to bring a further 63,778 passengers to Bermuda by the end of the year. We anticipate that by the end of the season, approximately 166 cruise calls, with around 374,365 passengers, will visit our shores, representing 92,524 more passengers or an additional $24.9 million of an economic impact than initially forecasted, totaling an estimated economic impact of $156.1 million.”

The repair work on Hunter’s Wharf commenced on 17 August 2022, after concerns for the health and safety of passengers and staff.  The Department of Works and Engineering has completed the gangway and tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 October 2022,  Marine and Ports Services will start the published ferry service on the Orange route.
