The Department of Public Prosecutions, Bermuda, is proud to announce an ongoing collaboration with the Attorney General’s Chambers of Anguilla, reflecting the strong partnership between the two sister British Overseas Territories. This initiative highlights Bermuda’s commitment to sharing prosecutorial expertise and supporting the rule of law across the region.
As part of this collaboration, Bermuda’s Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms Cindy Clarke, together with Acting Senior Crown Counsel Ms Shaunte Simons-Fox, recently visited Anguilla to assist with multiple charging decisions. Building on that support, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Mr. Carrington Mahoney and Crown Counsel Mr. Kael London are currently in Anguilla, where they are leading prosecutions and delivering training to strengthen local prosecutorial capacity.
In a reciprocal exchange, Ms. Jordia Hodge of the Anguilla Attorney General’s Chambers has traveled to Bermuda, where she is training with the Department of Public Prosecutions to further develop her skills and experience.
Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Cindy Clarke, stated: “We are honoured to collaborate with our colleagues in Anguilla in this important area of justice. The exchange of skills, knowledge, and resources strengthens both of our jurisdictions and reflects the shared values that unite the Overseas Territories.”
The Governor, Andrew Murdoch, said, “The assistance that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has been able to offer to our sister Overseas Territory has made an immediate and positive impact. Ms. Clarke and her team have not only helped with progressing urgent casework but provided invaluable assistance to help Anguillan prosecutors in their work to build a more resilient and capable local prosecution team. It is wonderful to see this regional collaboration and support.”
This initiative, the cost of which has been borne by Anguilla, underscores the importance of regional cooperation in ensuring access to justice and good governance. By working together, Bermuda and Anguilla continue to build stronger prosecutorial teams while deepening professional ties across the Caribbean.
