As part of the 2025 Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue (CCLD), 16 emerging leaders visited the Cabinet Office for a courtesy meeting with the Premier of Bermuda, the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, and the Minister of Economy and Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP.
The Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue is a cross-sector leadership programme that brings together individuals from government, education, business, labour, and civil society to develop leadership skills and strengthen partnerships across the Caribbean and Canada.
The visit was part of the Bermuda tour focused on the sub-theme of advocacy and policy reform. Premier Burt stated, “I congratulate the CCL delegates for their participation and commitment to international dialogue and learning across country borders and jurisdictions, and thank the sponsors whose support made the programme possible and accessible to the brilliant minds who have been shaped by these unique experiences.”
Minister Hayward, who is both a programme alumnus and Bermuda’s Minister of Economy and Labour, said, "It is my honour to welcome the delegates to the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025, a pivotal gathering dedicated to exploring Impact-Driven Change in Our Community.
"As an alum we carry a special responsibility and opportunity to amplify our impact. This event offers a valuable platform to exchange ideas."
Tammy Augustus-Richardson, the Country Tour Lead for Bermuda, coordinated the visit alongside Mr. Ed Ball. Reflecting on the experience, Ms. Augustus-Richardson shared, “We trust the delegates will depart with a deep sense of engagement, having experienced a tour curated to blend seamless logistics with intellectual depth.
"With deliberate care, we endeavoured to weave together compelling narratives and immersive learning, creating an experience that will linger in memory long after the journey to Bermuda concludes.”
Nahjae Nunes, CCL fellow, Doctoral Candidate in International Relations at Oxford, and Senior Fellow at UNICEF, thanked the Premier and the Government of Bermuda stating; “There was no better way to wrap up our tour than here at the Cabinet Office.”
