Cabinet Office Overseas Summer Intern Positions

 The Cabinet Office today invited applications from Bermudians who are interested in applying for one of three Summer Intern positions. Applicants must be pursuing a Master’s Degree and have an interest in public administration. He/she should want to understand the workings of the Government of Bermuda’s overseas offices.

The programme will last for 12 weeks – 3 June - 30 August, 2019. The successful candidates will work under the direction of the Secretary to the Cabinet, and will be offered an opportunity to be attached to one of Bermuda’s overseas offices in London, Washington DC or Brussels. Successful applicants will provide administrative, research and general assistance in a range of relevant work projects, as needed, to the Representative Offices.

The salary will be BD$1,000 a week with airfare and accommodation to the respective overseas office.

To be considered, applicants must be accepted into, or currently enrolled, in a Master’s Degree programme. Previous work experience is not required; however, preference will be given to applicants pursuing courses of study in international relations, political science, economics, finance or a related discipline.

The successful applicants must also be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, be computer literate, have the ability to work independently and in a team setting. As part of Bermuda’s representative presence overseas, the selected candidates will be expected to operate at a high level of decorum, as they will be interacting with dignitaries and officials from other governments.

All applicants must be Bermudian, possess a valid passport and if assigned to the London or Brussels offices must hold a UK passport.

Proof of Bermudian status, an acceptance/enrollment letter in an accredited university, and two references must accompany the written application of interest.

All requested documentation must be included with the application which can be emailed to tnsmith@gov.bm, brought or mailed to The Cabinet Office, 105 Front Street, Hamilton HM12, for the attention of The Secretary to the Cabinet. All applications must be received by no later than 5pm ADT on 29 March, 2019.
