The Department of Education was advised this morning, 22 February, that Paraeducators and Education Therapist Assistants (ETA) in the Bermuda Public School System were asked to attend the Bermuda Union of Teachers (BUT)/ Public Service Negotiations Team (PSNT) negotiations meeting, scheduled for 11:00 am today.
The Department of Education was not aware of this request.
To ensure the safety and services of students who require the support of Paraeducators and ETAs’, the negotiations meeting was canceled. The General Secretary Dr. Michael Charles was informed, along with school Principals, that the negotiations meeting will resume next week. Dr. Charles agreed with the PSNT that a representative group of Paraeducators would be invited to next week’s meeting.
