Bermuda Awarded Best Digital Jurisdiction in World Commerce Review Magazine

Dr. the Hon. Grant Gibbons J.P., M.P., Minister of Economic Development today announced that the UK magazine World Commerce Review has named Bermuda the winner of the Best Digital Jurisdiction Award for 2016.

The World Commerce Review Awards are recognised as the principal indications of professional conduct and excellence.

Dr. Gibbons commented: “We are very pleased to receive this award from World Commerce Review – and I would like to congratulate Bermuda’s ICT sector who have been instrumental in the Island receiving this distinction.” He continued: “Bermuda’s first-class telecommunications infrastructure and ICT sector complement each other in supporting our jurisdiction.”

In naming Bermuda the Best Digital Jurisdiction, the selection panel took into account product innovation, on-going customer support and best practice criteria, as well as a continuing commitment to deploying the best technology and practice to enhance productivity. In addition, forward planning and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) were seen as key areas for the award committee.

This is not the first Best Digital Jurisdiction Award that the Island has received from the World Commerce Review. Bermuda was recipient of the same distinction in 2013 and 2014. As a matter of fact, Bermuda has long been known as the ‘Wired Island’ for well over a decade. In the last four Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) digital economy studies, Bermuda consistently ranked in the top 22 countries in the world for e-readiness.
