The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the motoring public that BELCO will be commencing with the demolition of the eastern stack tower. For the safety of the Public, Cemetery Road will be closed between the Eco Pest and Gorham’s Lumber yard driveway.

The traveling public will be able to visit Eco Pest Ltd. via Cemetery Road coming off of Serpentine Road only. The traveling public wanting to visit the Gorham’s Lumber yard will be able to use Cemetery Road via St John’s Road only.

The road closure on Cemetery Road shall commence on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 for approximately four (4) hours, weather permitting. Alternate rain days are Sunday, March 26th, Tuesday, March 28’h or Saturday, April 1st, 2023 or as weather permits.

Traffic controls will be under the direction of Manafort Brothers representatives and will be managed through traffic control barricades and detour signs.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the public that wall repairs across the street from the property situated at 119 Somerset Road near the junction of Scaur Hill Drive in Sandys are commencing and will require a single-lane closure in the Westbound Lane.

The single-lane closure on Somerset Road shall take effect from Monday, April 3rd, 2023 and will be ongoing through to Friday, June 9th, 2023. Working hours will be from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Traffic controls will be under the direction of the Ministry of Public Works and will be managed through traffic control signs and traffic lights.

The Cabinet Office is advising the public to be wary of fake social media accounts circulating online using the Premier’s image.

 

The fake accounts are being featured on Facebook and Instagram, and promote an investment opportunity, which seeks to defraud money from visitors to the site.

 

The Bermuda Police Service has been notified.

The Premier’s social media accounts are verified accounts. Anything other than these official platforms are fake.

 

Individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant while online. Do not click the links provided. Persons should report the accounts to the platforms’ social media administrators if they encounter them.

The Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation (DYS&R) is advising that due to water and subsequent electrical damage experienced last Thursday, the Sammy Wilson Community Center (SWCC) on Angle Street is closed.


Work crews from the Ministry of Public Works are assessing the space, and all programmes that are normally held at the Sammy Wilson Community Center will be suspended until April 1, when the repairs are scheduled to be completed.

It should be noted that those facilitators whose programmes take place at the SWCC have been notified of the disruption. Where possible, community programmes facilitated by community workers will continue. In some instances, certain programmes will take place at alternative venues. 


The DYS&R regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their cooperation and patience.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the motoring public that the BELCO trench on North Shore Road has reached Store Hill Road junction. BELCO will tie-into the Store Hill Road trench and immediately continue with opening up pull holes every 800 feet to pull their power cables through the newly placed conduits. In conjunction with BELCO, Link Bermuda is pulling their fiber optics line from the Railway Trail up Store Hill into the existing communication manhole.

In order to accommodate these works, Store Hill Road will need to be closed from North Shore Road to Middle Road. Once BELCO and Link Bermuda have finished work on Store Hill Road, they will proceed with opening up pull holes every 800 feet down Middle Road to reach Whitney School and the BELCO substation.

This work along Middle Road will only require a lane closure.

The road closure on Store Hill road shall commence immediately on Thursday, February 23rd until approximately mid-March. Thereafter a lane closure will transition over onto Middle Road until approximately Monday, April 3rd, 2023.

Working hours will be daily from 7 am through to 7 pm. Store Hill Road will be restricted to residential traffic only.

Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO & Link Bermuda representatives and will be managed through traffic control barricades, detour signs & traffic lights.
