Before you register, you need to choose the entity type that best suits the way you want to operate. Two questions decide most of the answer.
The two questions that decide it
Will the business trade in Bermuda, or from Bermuda? A local entity may trade in the domestic market, but must satisfy Bermudian ownership and control requirements or hold a license. An exempted entity is exempt from those requirements, and in exchange is restricted in what it may do within Bermuda.
What liability do the owners want to carry? The general partners of a limited partnership are liable to an unlimited extent. Shareholders in a limited company, limited partners in a partnership and members of an LLC, have limited liability.
