Grant Gibbons JP, MP, Minister of Economic Development stated: “The TechAwards allow the Department of E-Commerce to recognize the Bermuda residents and Bermuda-based organizations which have provided notable technology solutions to Bermuda and its residents. Every year, the winners demonstrate that Bermuda has what it takes when it comes to technological innovation and achievement. The Bermuda public is the driving force of TechAwards – so we once again look forward to active participation as we seek out local innovative achievements that should be recognized and applauded.”
The Ministry’s Department of E-Commerce has sponsored the Technology Innovation Awards since 2006. It leads the threefold process which begins with the public submitting nominations for Bermuda’s best in technology in four specific categories: International Innovation of the Year, Local Innovation of the Year, Innovative Youth Program of the Year, and Mobile Application of the Year.
The TechAwards Committee evaluates each nomination and submits those that meet the criteria to a panel of judges. The qualified nominees are then interviewed by the judging panels and the top five finishers in each of the four categories will be recognized during the Celebration of Innovation and Entrepreneurship on November 17th.
