The Bermuda National Library has a full calendar of free and low-cost events this October. Here's what's coming up.

Wednesday, October 7: Chair Fitness (1:15–2 pm)

Build community and explore fitness in a new, fun and engaging way with Aprille of Energize Wellness Solution. Sponsored by your library.

Thursday, October 8: Scrabble (12:30 pm)

Enjoy a free, fun, friendly game of Scrabble at BNL.

Thursday, October 8: Online Author Talk – Art in Flight: Reinventing Postmodernism with Smithsonian Curator Carolyn Russo

Join acclaimed author and Smithsonian curator Carolyn Russo as she discusses her book, The Ascent of Rauschenberg, exploring the legacy and inspirations of one of America's most influential artistic icons.

Saturday, October 10: Human Library (2–5 pm, rescheduled date)

Unjudge someone at the Human Library, a safe space for dialogue where you can ask tough questions, overcome stigmas and break down barriers in conversation with our human Books.

Tuesday, October 13: Painting Paradise – 18th C. Pictures, Artists and Art Market with Andrew Baylay (12:30 pm)

The 18th century saw the first true developments of a Bermuda art scene. Explore who made, bought, sold and owned art here, and gain a better understanding of art in early Bermuda.

Wednesday, October 14: Bermuda Triangle Society Speculative Fiction Book Club (6 pm)

A monthly theme-based book club for explorers of science fiction, fantasy and the wonderfully weird. This month's theme is Parallel Worlds.

Tuesday, October 20: Zine Club (6 pm)

Get creative with Bermuda Zine Club! No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Space is limited.

Thursday, October 22: Genealogy with Ellen Hollis (12:30–2 pm)

Chase ghosts through old records and uncover the stories that shaped your family using BNL's rich resources.

Saturday, October 24: Dance Fitness (10 am)

Shake off the stress of the week and 'fall' in love with dancing with Aprille of Energize Wellness Solution. Sponsored by your library.

Saturday, October 24: Haunted Library – The Story Trap (6–8:30 pm, Youth Services event)

Every year in the days leading up to Halloween, something mysterious stirs within the library, and the characters of your favourite storybooks begin to wake. Come and see for yourself on this walk-through. Tickets are $3 per person, or $5 per person on the event date.

Wednesday, October 28: Ghost Stories with John Cox (12:30 pm)

Enjoy spine-chilling stories as author John Cox reads from Ghost Stories and Other Bermuda Tales and Bermuda's Favourite Haunts. Books will be available to purchase and have signed.

Friday, October 30: Creepy Crawl (6–8 pm, Youth Services event)

Families are invited to get dressed up in their craziest costumes for a trick-or-treat walk through the City, starting at the Adult Library. Bring your treat bags! Tickets are $3/$5 at the door, cash only, and available at the Youth and Adult Library from October 1.
