Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs, the Hon. Walter H. Roban, JP, MP travelled to Nassau, Bahamas to participate in the First Regional Heads of Government Meeting in preparation for COP27.

The meeting, held under the Chairmanship of The Bahamas Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and in partnership with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) saw Heads of Governments and relevent stakeholders meet to begin the process of having a unified position on the agenda to be discussed in Egypt in November.

Minister Roban quoted, " In advance consideration of Bermuda's and other Overseas Territories' participation at COP27, this meeting of Government Heads was an excellent opportunity for growing and fostering dialogue and networking with other Caribbbean nations. It has allowed governments to advance meaningful partnerships and policy positions to address climate change, the concerns around it, and development in a sustainable manner, which is vital to the people of Bermuda"

I also expressed my gratitude to the UN and Bahamian Government for including Bermuda and the other territories in this important meeting. Together we expressed a willingness to work as part as the Region's effort and as part of the international island community to make a substantial impact at COP27."

Minister Roban's meals, travel and accommodation were graciously covered by the UNFCCC.
