Care Homes and Adult Day Care Facilities

Care Homes and Adult Day Care Facilities

As of December 6, 2021 care homes have moved into

with regard to COVID-19 Restrictions.

  • Visitors must be able to produce a valid safe key; or
  • Undergo a self administered antigen test under the supervision of care home staff the day of the visit. The result must be negative.

In January 2021, the Bermuda Health Council assumed responsibility for the regulation of residential care homes and nursing homes (aka care homes) and registration of adult day care facilities.

Care homes are accommodations that provide room, board and personal care services to seniors or persons with disabilities and are licensed under the Residential Care Homes and Nursing Homes Act 1999, Regulations 2001 and the Code of Practice for Care Homes V. 1.1.

Adult Day Care Facilities are establishments providing care services to 2 or more persons, over the age of 18, who are unrelated to the caregiver(s), for less than 24 hours per day. Day care programs that require the participant’s caregiver to attend with them are not included under this service catagory.
