37th Red Ensign Group Conference

The Government of Bermuda today welcomed delegates from across the United Kingdom, Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories for the opening of the 37th Red Ensign Group (REG) Conference.Hosted in Bermuda from 30 June to 2 July, the conference has brought together 78 delegates, including 71 international delegates, to discuss the future of British shipping, maritime strategy, sustainability, security and regulatory excellence.

Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, the Hon. Owen Darrell, JP, MP, who officially opened the conference, said: "It is an honour for Bermuda to host this important international conference and welcome delegates from across the Red Ensign Group to our island. We are delighted that so many have travelled to Bermuda to be here. While Bermuda is renowned as a world-class leisure destination, we are also committed to growing our business tourism and meetings sector. Conferences like this demonstrate Bermuda's ability to host high-quality international events."

The annual REG Conference provides an opportunity for maritime administrations to strengthen partnerships, share expertise and discuss strategic priorities for the future of the maritime sector. This year's programme focuses on issues including future fuels, maritime security, search and rescue, seafarer welfare, sustainability and international regulatory standards.
