The Bermuda Archives invites the public to celebrate International Archives Day on June 9, 2026, with a dynamic day of culture, history, and community engagement under this year’s theme, “For the Culture.”

From 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to explore the important work being done at the Bermuda Archives to preserve, protect, and share Bermuda’s rich cultural heritage for generations to come. Through displays, presentations, and featured collections, the Archives will highlight how Bermuda’s stories are being made more accessible and meaningful for everyone.

This year’s celebration will also feature a special Book Talk and Social with acclaimed historian and author Dr. Linford D. Fisher, who will discuss his newest book, Stealing America: The Hidden Story of Indigenous Slavery in U.S. History. The presentation will take place at the Bermuda National Library from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. His presentation promises to offer powerful insights into history, identity, and the enduring importance of archival records in understanding our shared past. It also touches on Bermuda’s role in The story of Indigenous Americans.. Music will be provided by Pink Sand Band.

As the nation’s memory keeper, the Bermuda Archives plays a vital role in safeguarding historical documents, photographs, and records that help tell the story of Bermuda and its people. International Archives Day provides a unique chance for people worldwide to engage with their histories and learn how archives influence cultural understanding and national identity.

Members of the public, researchers, students, and history enthusiasts are all encouraged to attend these free events and experience firsthand the work being done for the culture.
