Government Releases Third Episode of Leaders on the Record Featuring Premier David Burt on the 2026–2027 Budget
The Government of Bermuda has released the third episode of its official podcast series, Leaders on the Record, featuring the Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, in a detailed discussion on the recently unveiled 2026–2027 National Budget.
Under the theme “Responsible Choices, Lasting Benefits for Bermudians,” the Premier expands on the thinking behind this year’s Budget and provides further context on the Government’s approach to tax relief, debt management, and long-term investment.
During the episode, the Premier reflects on the Government’s continued reductions in payroll taxes and explains how those changes have translated into meaningful savings for many working Bermudians over time.
He also discusses the broader strategy to ease cost-of-living pressures through customs duty adjustments and targeted employer relief.
A significant portion of the conversation focuses on the introduction of corporate income tax (CIT), including the work undertaken to implement the new regime while maintaining Bermuda’s competitiveness.
The episode also explores the Budget’s increased capital investment programme, including major commitments to healthcare infrastructure, affordable housing, education reform, and national infrastructure upgrades.
Leaders on the Record is designed to move beyond headlines and formal statements, giving the public direct access to Ministers as they explain policy decisions, respond to concerns, and share their vision for Bermuda’s future.
The podcast series forms part of the Government’s broader communications strategy to strengthen public engagement, improve understanding of national issues, and foster informed dialogue across the community.
