The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended the CONCACAF Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 held in Trinidad and Tobago on 18 November 2025. 

The Minister was accompanied by the Senior Sports Development Officer and the National Sports Centre Facilities Manager. The team met with the Hon. Phillip Watts, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, who outlined Trinidad & Tobago's strategic vision for sport, including the use of local sporting ambassadors to promote participation and inspire the next generation. 
 
Minister Darrell and his team also toured key national facilities, including the National Aquatics Centre and the velodrome and met with Mr. Jason Williams (and his team), CEO of the Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago. The meeting provided insight into facility operations, maintenance standards and the frameworks governing National Governing Body compliance and funding. 
 
These meetings were highly beneficial, offering valuable perspectives of sports governance, facility management and strategic engagement that may assist ongoing and future initiatives.
