Minister Weeks visits Airport Firefighters

The Minister of National Security, Michael Weeks, JP, MP, was pleased to visit the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service’s airport operations division and Clearwater station recently, where he spent time with firefighters to hear about their work and to see them in action.

The Minister also used the opportunity to meet with the overseas firefighters who were on shift working at the LF Wade International Airport on an interim basis.

Minister Weeks was accompanied on his visit by Acting Chief Fire Officer Dana Lovell and Mr. Nakia Pearson, the president of the Fire Services Association.

The Minister said: “It was a good opportunity to inspect the station and meet with the local and overseas firefighters who provide such an important service.

“These men and women play a critical role in ensuring the safety of travellers.  Their professionalism and dedication to the service is commendable.

“This visit was just part of the many visits I have taken in recent months to different departments and offices under the Ministry’s remit.”
