Ministry on Post Hurricane Updates: Bus Service to Resume on Sunday

With the passing of Hurricane Fiona, the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) stood down yesterday afternoon, and the Regiment embodiment has concluded.

This evening the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Michael Weeks has provided the following updates.

Minister Weeks said, "We were very blessed to have had such minor damage, and the Island is quickly getting back to normal as the clean-up continues. There are still quite a number of homes without power, and BELCO is working on getting them back online as soon as possible. BELCO will continue to provide further updates. I can advise that the Department of Public Transportation will resume bus service at 6 a.m. tomorrow, 25 September 2022, operating under the regular Sunday schedule."

Minister Weeks added, "Finally, I wish to thank the services that worked through the hurricane and are still cleaning up and the public for taking the threat seriously and preparing for the storm. The preparation undoubtedly minimized the damage and enabled us to be up and running so quickly. Unfortunately, hurricane season is not over. We will use the lessons learned from this storm to be even more prepared for the next."
