BERMUDA BICYCLE ASSOCIATION &VT CONSTRUCTION

BICYCLE ROAD RACE

SUNDAY 24TH  APRIL, 2022

 

ROUTES:

CYCLE RACE ROUTE:

Starting at Middle Road, Smith near the Whitney School driveway heading west to Verdmont Road, then turn left on Verdmont Road heading west towards St. Marks Road, turn left on St. Marks Road heading south towards South Road, then turn left on South Road heading east towards Paynter’s Road, then turn left on Paynter’s Road and heading north towards Harrington Sound Road, then turn left on Harrington Sound Road and heading west towards Middle Road, then turn left on Middle Road to end race at Whitney School parking area. 

TRAFFIC CONTROL:

The bicycle race will commence on Sunday, 24th April 2022 at 7:15am and is expected to be concluded by 11:00am. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collusion with race participants.   The race route will be under Police and Race Officials. Motorists are asked to follow Police and Race Officials instructions to assist with traffic control for this event.

ROADS CLOSED:

There will be no road closures to traffic while this bicycle race takes place but motorists are asked to use caution and allow cyclists to participate and give way when directed by Police and Race Officials.

PARKING:

 

There will be no parking restriction for this bicycle race but motorists are permitted to park in designated parking bays along any part of the race route. Additionally motorists must not block the race route or impede the participants in the bicycle race.

In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorized to "Close-Off" streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC (VARIATION OF SPEED LIMITS) ORDER

BERMUDA BICYCLE ASSOCIATION & VT CONSTRUCTION

BICYCLE ROAD RACE

SUNDAY, 24TH APRIL, 2022

 

In exercise of the power conferred upon the Minister charged with responsibility for Works by Section 7(2A) and (2B) of the Road Traffic Act, 1947, the following Order is hereby made:-

1.         (i)         This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Variation of Speed Limits) (No.      )

                        Order 2022.

            (ii)        This Order applies to the contestants and to the attendant vehicles to the contestants of the Bermuda Bicycle Association bicycle road race on the Ministry of Public Works roadways to be held on Sunday, 24th April 2022.

2          (i)         The speed limits fixed by Section 7(2) of the Road Traffic Act, 1947 are hereby varied to the extent specified in the first column of the Schedule in respect of the Bermuda Bicycle Association bicycle road race.                                                                                                                  

            (ii)        The roads or parts thereof specified in the second column of the Schedule are hereby declared to be subject at the times specified in the third column of the schedule to the speed limit specified in the first column thereof. The bicycle race will be repeated seven times according to the course mentioned below. The start time is to commence at 7:15am with various groups being separated by interval times.
