Government Celebrates Innovation with 100-Day Accelerator Closing Event

100-day Accelerator Programme

The Government of Bermuda is marking the completion of its first Government 100-day Accelerator Programme, celebrating progress in modernising services and making them more user-friendly.

The programme was launched in April in partnership with the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs’ Government Experience Exchange Programme, which aims to create a global model for improving government administration.

Bermuda’s participation is a direct result of the Government of Bermuda’s strategic outreach, and engagement with the UAE and the Gulf region. The Accelerator programme was fully sponsored by the UAE government, with the curriculum, resources, and technical guidance provided at no cost.

This partnership demonstrates the tangible value of international collaboration and underscores a shared commitment between Bermuda and the UAE to enhance public sector innovation, service delivery, and workforce development.

The first Accelerator Programme cohort focused on three challenges:

  • Revamping the Government’s website - gov.bm;
  • Creating a single digital profile for persons interacting with the Government; and
  • Synchronising staff information across internal IT platforms.

Public officers were allocated to project teams and engaged directly with stakeholders through consultation sessions. They gathered feedback from the people most affected by these services to inform the solutions.

Each project team has achieved significant milestones in the 100 days since the programme began.

A prototype for a redesigned Government website that is easier to navigate, searchable, more accessible, and supported by a new content management system to keep information consistent and up to date has been developed.

Consultation with Vision Bermuda and other key stakeholders will ensure improved access for people with visual impairments, while a new search tool will make finding information quicker. The prototype is undergoing final testing before data migration, with a plan to launch the upgraded site in Spring 2026.

Linking existing Government systems is an essential goal of digital transformation, and one of the groups focused on connecting staff information across the Government. This project will reduce duplication of effort, minimise errors, improve efficiency, and provide staff with reliable information to be better connected across the organisation.

The eProfile project has produced a proof of concept for a unique identifier that would allow residents to use a single profile when dealing with the Government. A prototype and roadmap for integration have been developed, laying the foundation for faster, more connected services and improved public delivery.

Premier David Burt, JP, MP, praised the results and spoke to the importance of international collaboration: “This initiative underscores the importance of strategic outreach and engagement to Bermuda’s continued development. Partnerships like the one this Government has established with the United Arab Emirates strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, helping us innovate and improve public outcomes through international collaboration.

“Innovation is not just about technology; it’s about improving the experience for the people we serve. By bringing in global expertise and new approaches, we are empowering our public officers to think differently and work more effectively.”

His Excellency Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, added, “The partnership with the Government of Bermuda in the field of government modernisation reflects a shared ambition to strengthen government performance and enhance future-readiness. Bermuda’s strides in adapting the accelerator concept; originally developed in the UAE, to fit its local context and priorities are remarkable.”

Deputy Head of the Public Service Dr. Jennifer Attride-Stirling said, “This programme is changing the way we work. By collaborating across departments and listening to the public, our teams are finding new ways to deliver services that are practical, effective, and citizen-focused.”

The Government will apply lessons from this first cohort to future projects under the Public Service Strategic Plan 2024 to 2027, continuing its commitment to drive innovation within the public service.
