Quarantine Hotel Exemption Application

Effective Sunday, 20th June 2021, Bermuda requires unimmunised incoming travellers to quarantine for 14 days at a Quarantine Hotel at their expense.

Eligible persons may complete the quarantine period at home if they are able to safely isolate from others and receive written approval from the Ministry of Health. If a person is exempt from the Quarantine Hotel, they may be required to wear a quarantine bracelet and will be visited by the Royal Bermuda Regiment. 

Unimmunised, unaccompanied minor children (17 and younger) will automatically be exempted through the application for the Travel Authorisation from the Quarantine Hotel and will be able to quarantine at home.

Eligibility for Government Paid Quarantine Hotel

Eligible persons may complete the quarantine period at a quarantine hotel that is paid for by Government if they are persons with Bermuda status (this includes students) who left Bermuda before 6th May 2021 and have not returned to Bermuda since that date and having last been in Bermuda on or after 1st July 2020. This will be in effect until 30th September 2021. Please apply for this exemption

Eligible persons for exemptions from a quarantine hotel or payment for the quarantine hotel are:

a.   Persons returning from medical care 

b.   Persons with a diagnosed health condition that would present medical risk during a 14 day quarantine hotel stay

c.    Persons who require health supervision during the 14 day quarantine 

d.   Persons who are dependent on someone else for care or support for physical or mental health challenges

Health certificate from licenced Medical Doctor or registered Psychologist or Local health insurer
Submission of documents authorizes the Ministry of Health to verify authenticity
Caregiver of medically vulnerable traveller A person who accompanies a certified medically vulnerable Person

1.  Residents who left Bermuda prior to 6 May 2021 and after 1 July 2020 who have not returned to Bermuda between those dates;

2.  Residents who booked travel reservations between 6 May and 15 June 2021 for travel outside Bermuda beginning on or before 19 June 2021.

Eligible persons may complete the quarantine period at a quarantine hotel that is paid for by Government if they are persons with Bermuda status (this includes students) who left Bermuda before 6th May 2021 and have not return to Bermuda since that date and having last been in Bermuda on or after 1st July 2020. This will be in effect until 30th September 2021. Proof of having left Bermuda prior to 6th May 2021, e.g. passport stamp, travel itinerary, boarding pass, notarized letter

To quarantine at home, eligible persons must apply for an exemption from the Minister of Health through this online form.

To have the Bermuda Government pay for the Quarantine Hotel, eligible persons must apply for an exemption from the Minister of Health through this online form.

Applicants must apply at least 7 days before their intended arrival.

Applications take up to 72 hours to process.

Medical emergency applications should be made by phone on (441) 444-2498 (select option 1).

Persons arriving in Bermuda without a Ministry of Health exemption must quarantine at a designated facility at the traveller’s expense until an exemption is granted. If needed, applications can also be processed by telephone by calling (441) 444-2498 (select option 1). Electronic communication will be required in order to submit the required documentation. Bermuda’s requirement to quarantine at a designated facility is in accordance with the Quarantine (Covid-19) (No.3) Amendment (No. 2) Order 2021.

NOTE: All travellers to Bermuda must have a Travel Authorisation
