Brookfield announces development of Brookfield Place Bermuda in Hamilton, Bermuda

Development is a further reflection of Brookfield’s commitment to Bermuda

BROOKFIELD NEWS, March 21, 2023 – Brookfield today reaffirmed its commitment to Bermuda, announcing plans to build a state-of-the art Class A commercial office building with supporting ground floor retail at 91 Front Street in downtown Hamilton.

The Final North East Hamilton Local Plan 2022

Mr. Speaker, today I laid for consideration and approval the final North East Hamilton Local Plan 2022. The North East Hamilton Local Plan 2022 (“the Plan”) has been prepared by the Department of Planning (“the Department”) to guide development within the north eastern portion of the City of Hamilton. The Plan is accompanied by a Tribunal Report, detailing the consultation process, representations received and the findings and recommendations of the Tribunal. Once approved, notice of the Plan will be published in the Official Gazette and it will become operative.

Draft North East Hamilton Local Plan 2021

Good afternoon to all members of the media and the listening public. 

I am pleased to be here today at Dr E.F. Gordon Square to announce the creation of the Draft North East Hamilton Local Plan 2021 by the Department of Planning. I am joined here today by Senators Lindsay Simmons and also by the Director of the Department of Planning, Ms. Victoria Pereira and her team; Mr. Larry Williams, Mr. Paul Mcdonald and Mr. Kenny Campbell. 

Municipal Election Nomination Day Results

Earlier today nominations of candidates for the ordinary municipal elections, for the Corporations of Hamilton and St. George were held at the Seventh Day Adventist church hall in Hamilton.

At the close of nominations the results are as follows:

Corporation of Hamilton

The Mayor’s seat was uncontested, Mr. Charles Gosling will return as Mayor.

The Municipal Residents’ election was uncontested, with four candidates put forward. They are:

Nomination Day – Bermuda Municipal Elections

Nomination Day for Bermuda Municipal Elections will be held on Thursday, 25 April 2019 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Hall on King Street from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for both Municipal areas. The proportion of seats available to return for each area is as follows:

Corporation of Hamilton

Business Ratepayers Councillors – 4 seats

Municipal Residents Councillors – 4 seats

Mayor – 1 seat

Corporation of St. George’s

Business Ratepayers Councillors – 2 seats

Municipal Residents Councillors – 6 seats

Piped Government water services interruptions affecting Devonshire, Smiths and Hamilton Parishes

The Ministry of Public Works is reminding its piped water customers in Devonshire, Smiths, and Hamilton parishes that starting Tuesday, 26 February, 2019, the Ministry will begin work on repairing and replacing the water mains along Middle Road, Fort Hill Road and Watlington Road East which feed these parishes.

Premier and Health Minister exercise option

The Department of Health’s Dance Walk around Hamilton included a meeting of the minds with the Premier David Burt and the Minister of Health Kim Wilson, who joined in for an energetic dance during the group’s visit to the Cabinet Office today.

The Dance Walk lunch time event is organized quarterly by Health officials to encourage individuals to move more for better health.

Today, it was also used to encourage participation in next week Wednesday’s four-hour “Celebrating Wellness” health extravaganza at Barr’s Bay Park.
