Register as a Psychologist

In order to practice as a psychologist in Bermuda, you must register with the Bermuda Psychologists Council (BPC). You will need to renew your registration every three years.

Psychologists are trained professionals who help ensure the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and organizations through the promotion of mental health and wellbeing. They also engage in consultation, teaching, research, and programme/service development.

How to register

You will need to download and complete the Psychological Practitioners Registration Application, and submit it to the Registry General.

The application must be submitted along with:

  • Copies of any professional qualifications mentioned in the application;
  • A current C.V. and copies of any documents relating to your professional qualifications, experience and character; and
  • A copy of a certificate for malpractice insurance coverage

The completed form must be returned to the Registry General with the relevant documents and required fee. You can use the Education and Training Guide for Registering as a Psychologistto help complete your application. All forms and documentation are then forwarded to the BPC for consideration.

  • Late fee for Re-Registration - $45

How long will it take to get my application reviewed?

The BPC generally meets on a monthly basis. Following review of your submitted documentation, the BPC will advise the Registry General of their decision, and the Registry General will contact you.

A Certificate of Registration will be issued by the Registrar General if your application is successful.

How do I renew my registration?

Your registration expires three years from the date of registration by the Registrar General.  In order to continue to practice as a psychologist in Bermuda, you need to complete the re-registration process by submitting your Re-registration Application Form.

Re-registration also requires the completion of 60 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.  These credits have to be earned through specific activities.  For more information, download the CPD Programme Guide for Registered Psychologists

If the application is not submitted within three months of the expiration of registration, you will be removed from the register and will have to apply as a new registrant.
