Community Education encourages lifelong learning for everyone. CEDP can provide activities and services, including leisure time activities, job-retraining, delivery of information on social services. An overall objective of community education is to help develop a positive sense of community and to enhance community potential; to identify community resources and co-ordinate these resources to assist in alleviating community problems. We offer these activities and services for personal growth and development, and to enhance quality of life and a sense of well-being, so that individuals can work towards self-sufficient and productive citizens, who are engaged in the community.
General Philosophy:
The Community Education & Development Programme has been ‘At Your Service’ for over two decades. An outgrowth from the Warwick Community Education Advisory Council, a response to the social stresses of the 1970s, CEDP concerns itself with everything that effects the well being of all citizens within the community..."Learning how people can not effectively live together, making the concept of community a practical reality, is one of the fundamental needs of humanity."..."Let us be known by our deeds, not by our money."... (Pioneer in Community Education, Charles Stewart Mott)
Goal:
CEDP promotes new opportunities to enhance the over-all growth and development of people in the community by providing a variety of educational, recreational, social, personal development and vocational classes for people to realize success for individuals and the broader community.
Mission Statement:
To improve individuals' sense of belonging to the Bermuda community through selected community based and activities; and foster and develop a greater sense for the value of Bermuda's cultures and traditions, so as to enhance our quality of life and to create unity and pride in our identity as a people.
